Inside out …
More and more evidence is now becoming available on the direct relationship between the digestive system and our skin health.
As skin care therapists we are now in tune with asking clients not just about their skin care regime but also asking what their diet and nutrition is like.
At our clinic we assess the health of the skin cells, if the skin cells are in need of a little help then it makes sense that the rest of our body ( being made up of billions of cells ) are also in need of a health check.
Our digestive systems absorb nutrients from our food and then carry them off to where the nutrients are needed.
These nutrients are building blocks for cellular health. When looking at our skin we need to assess 2 important factors ….
a) What building blocks are we providing our digestion ?
Are we feeding our bodies with nutrient dense foods and what nutrients does the body need right now ?
b) Is our gut able to break down the nutrients for our body?
We may be feeding our bodies the right nutrients but is the digestive system working properly so it can absorb these the right building blocks?
In a busy world, that is just getting busier, it is all too easy to think ” she’ll be right I’ll get to it later”. Being in the health and wellbeing industry we encourage you to be mindful and present and start to observe your body now. Before it breaks under the pressures of today.

I recommend reading Rushing Womens Syndrome and Accidentally Overweight. Dr Libby specialises in biochemistry and explains in depth how the gut is affected by our lifestyles as busy women.
The gut and psychology diet is gaining popularity in its recognition of how the digestive system affects our moods and health. There are some great links on this site.
