Tina ( aka The Dermal Apothecary ) is a skin therapist that has struggled with food intolerances and sensitive skin all her life. ” My skin is a barometer of how I have been looking after myself, if I eat foods that my system cant tolerate then my eczema and acne rosacea flair up. I now control my condition 100% naturally with the use of clean eating, avoiding triggers and The Still Room skin care ”
Tina owns a skin clinic in Auckland and has carved a niche for herself in helping people with sensitive and acneaic skin conditions.
6 years ago Tina started developing her own skin care range to help settle her skin. ” After I had formulated a product that helped calm my own skin I then started to work with my clients “.
The result is a skin care line that is made from a select range of fresh organic ingredients, we dont use unnecessary additives nor fillers to keep our products stable on the shelves. This is why we sell mainly online now. In the interest of safety we do use a broad spectrum preservative but I have chosen a specific one that has ECO cert approval and has also been approved by the soil association – this is very important for us ”
The ingredients we use are specific to the needs of the skin. This is why it is wise to have a skin diagnosis first with Tina online. ” Each formulation has been designed by me after years of research. I choose ingredients based on my experience and study with plant science as well as the skins needs for topical nutrients in order for the skin cells to function healthier way ”
For Tina though it now goes beyond the clinic and into nature itself. ” I truly believe that if our skin and health is out of balance then so is the planet – we are relying on fast foods, processed foods and quick convenience options ( even fruit and vegetables ) to fulfill our bodies need to eat. After a key discussion with an environmental scientist, I realised that its our food chain that is creating poor health and food intolerances and the answer is in the soil ”
Its no secret that our soils are lacking in vital nutrients. This means that plants we are growing in these soils are not getting the full spectrum of nutrients that they need either in order to grow into a healthy fruit or vegetable that we then eat. Not only this but our soils need microbes and earth worms to work in synergy with the plant structure in order to create a healthy plant. Let alone the fact that we need pesticide free options that are grown in a nutrient dense environment JUST so our bodies can get a fair chance and not develop reactions.
With the level of food intolerances on the rise we can definitely see a pattern emerging that our bodies are not developing in a healthful way …. and its showing up in our skin.
The skin is a living organ. Just like our other organs nutrition is key. Our skin care line includes a number of these missing nutrients which is absorbed into the skin through treatment masks and moisturisers.
