Many women come to me believing they have hormonal acne. And while hormones often play a role, what we call “hormonal acne” can be a misleading label. Breakouts around the jawline, chin, or cheeks may look hormonal, but in my experience, they aren’t related to cycles at all. What worries me the most, is that if we are not implementing the right protocols we can actually miss vital cues or, even worse, treat hormones unnecessarily.
That’s why guessing—or relying on generic, unqualified advice—rarely brings lasting change.
Skin is complex. Your skin is unique. And it’s speaking a language that requires experienced guidance to understand.
The Problem with Self-Diagnosis
It’s tempting to treat your breakouts based on what you’ve read online or what social media suggests. But skin is not one-size-fits-all. A product that helps one person may inflame another. An AI-generated skincare routine or an influencer’s favourite serum can never replace the insight of someone trained to understand the skin and its connection to triggers.
In fact, many women who come to me with “hormonal acne” are actually dealing with reactions to harsh products, overuse of active ingredients, underlying digestive issues, or lifestyle factors that no topical could ever fix.
Why a Whole-Body View Matters
Your skin reflects what’s happening inside. It doesn’t act alone. But here’s the key: it takes time, observation, and personalised support to understand how your body communicates through your skin.
That’s why I work in partnership with my clients. Together we:
- Identify what your skin is truly saying
- Understand how your system is unique
- Avoid common triggers (like overuse of cosmeceuticals (Vitamin A) that can strip or sensitise)
- Build a tailored plan that evolves as your skin heals
This is not about a quick fix. It’s about restoring trust—in your skin, in your body, and in the way you care for both.
How to Begin
If you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing sticks, you’re not alone. The problem may not be your skin — it might be the generic approach you’ve been given.
Start by seeking support from someone who sees the whole you. Someone who listens not just to what your skin looks like, but what it might be trying to express.
My Discovery Consultations are the first step. They are not a set diagnosis, but a conversation. A space to explore what might be influencing your skin and how we can gently begin supporting it with respect, care, and individual insight.
You deserve skin care that makes sense for you — not just the algorithm.
If you’re ready to stop treating your skin like a surface-level problem, I’m here.
